Makeup or Breakup

What to Toss to Refresh Your Makeup

Let’s face it, makeup not only makes you feel good, it’s also a hobby. But let’s not forget that cosmetics are disposable not something you collect. It’s so easy to hold on to makeup, just in case you need it sometime in the distant future. But the truth is, you won’t likely use old makeup to refresh your look, and there are some cosmetic items you really should toss, yes a breakup, and replace them because:

  • The wrong cosmetics slow down your beauty routine

  • There are newer makeup goodies that are more effective and fun

  • You deserve to use sanitary, up to date products.

3 Toss Out Makeup Rules

When your lipstick is old - You know, the tubes waiting in your drawer?

Old lipstick tubes have to go. Replace with a matte base color, a sheer lipstick, and a luscious gloss so you have a multi layer approach and options. Cut back on buying the wrong colors or settling for random gift with purchase colors. Get pro help for selecting the right color lipsticks and brand selection at my Lipstick Bar (TM).

If lipstick or gloss is dried up, sticky or has a slight unusual smell it is rancid and maybe out of style too.

When your blush brush has mangled or broken hairs

Replace with a soft, fluffy tapered blush brush. It's better for your skin and rouge goes on smoothly. A fluffy brush just feels good too. Wash frequently and try using a portable blush brush with a cap for your makeup bag.

When you can’t remember when you bought your eyeliner

Get a new eyeliner every 60 days whether its a liquid, pencil, gel or powder. Try a marker style that’s easy to use. For safety issues to avoid bacteria, put a date on your calendar to replace eyeliner.
